Peugeot to set up JV for scooters in China


The French group Peugeot Motorcycles announced on Wednesday that it would set up a joint venture (JV) with the Chinese company Qingqi Motorcycle to produce scooters in China.

The new plant, located in Jinan, a city in Shandong province, east of China, will build the updated Speedfight and Vivacity models as well as new models.</P>
Qingqi, one of the three earliest motorcycle manufacturers in China, is controlled by diversified group CSGC and already has a joint venture with Japanese manufacturer Suzuki.</P>
The parent group of Peugeot Motorcycles, PSA Peugeot Citroen, has owned an automobile joint venture — Dongfeng Peugeot Citroen Automobiles.<<
